3:45 am - Herman the Christmas Tree
Tonight was the night for the Christmas tree hunt*. Since there are only sold very big ones at the shops and our cash flow isn't that great we decided that if we wanted a tree this year we had to find one ourselves. And where better than Sweden were the forests are plenty and full of pine trees. So we headed out tonight, armed with a saw, a small hand shovel, a tooly pointy thing and some garbage bags, ready for operation Christmas tree.

We walked/cycled to a industrial area, surrounded by the main road, with patches of wood in between. After scouring the place for suitable trees we finally find a little beauty next to a big building, apparently used for supply trucks. I bravely held the flash light/cycle light, while my love dug up the small and pointy one with surprising ease. We quickly bagged our loot and went back to our apartment, not bothered by the security car patrolling the area.

The tree, which I dubbed Herman en route, sits now snugly in its bucket, already decorated with Christmas lights. In the coming days I'll try to find some cheap decorations to brighten him up even more, like popcorn on a string and gingerbread cookies tied with red ribbon, and make pretty pictures of him to show off.

*In no way probably ecologicaly/legally correct, but sometimes a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do to get her tree ;)

2:24 am - Dexter <3
Have to say ep 4x9 was really a super ep and I'm loving were the season is headed. John Litgow is doing such a great job, what can that man be super creepy, loving it.

It seems Dexter totally picked up again after the, for me, somewhat dud season 3. Dexter is back to form ^^

12:55 am - Warning!
Wilgje's warning nr 1: Do not put your finger in the mixer and then turn it on, this will seriously hurt.

p.s. Am hurt but not deadly or anything and finger still attached, will have to see tomorrow if it's worthy of a doctor's visit.

4:49 am - I would be gay for christina hendricks!
Been finally catching up with Mad Men. Had it on my computer before the meltdown, but didn't watch it, have now finally got it again and watched it from my old/new/working computer. Just finished season 2 and yes I really like it again. It is a show that I think you need to watch in a certain mood. Something that also needs to be watched in good quality (watching it on a streaming site just doesn't cut it because the décor is too good to be missed.)

The atmosphere, the stories, the under cooled emotions, loving it, but again a very "I have to be in the mood" show. In one of the last episodes of season my heart broke for Joan (Christina Hendrick's character, Firefly's Yo/Saf/Bridge), who went in this season from an unlikablish character, to to me, the new heroine of the show.

And yes of course, that woman is sex on a stick...dipped in chocolate.

Or would I almost say....I'll be in my, starts with b ends with unk ;)

11:24 pm - Pies and quiet.
Had a nice cosy evening with my Russian friend. Learned her how to bake a Dutch apple pie, which turned out, if I say so myself, pretty darn delicious. We also watched a movie called "Perfect Stranger" with Halle Berry and Bruce Willis, which, even with some interesting plot things going on was pretty blah in execution. For a thriller type of move I can't really say I was much thrilled. Maybe Bruce can't do scary ;)

Had a bit of a stressy last week, even though it was supposedly a school holiday. Since my Swedish teacher decided it would be a good idea to hand in the book report on Tuesday of that week. I was p.o.'d (even more so because 4 hours of sleep and that time of the month) since I believed I had up till the end of the holiday to finish it. So I had to read a 400 page book in Swedish and write a paper about. With half the holiday ruined, plus my weekend job, it was, in the end, not real holiday at all.

To top it all off it seemed that all the party goers suddenly had seen Halloween as their holy grail and it was extremely busy at my job, in the seven hours that I worked I could probably sit down for 5 minutes max, but ah well, hopefully it's a semi anomaly. I can handle a bit of work, but for the pay I get it's not worth it ;)

Peace and quiet have returned again, hopefully it stays that way so I can stay in with a cup of cocoa (with added fake baileys ofc) watching the snow fall down(according to said russian friend the first snow flakes fell down today).

Winter is indeed coming (Bonus points if you know where this mangled quote comes from)!

current mood: peaceful

8:25 pm - Duurt lang!
Meh computer crapped up,  or rather graphics card crapped up and now I'm working on my own older computer again, that has to first update again. Seeing as I have been heavily neglecting poor LJ a good time to update this one a bit too.

Things are still going fine. Got a weekend night job now that brings in some extra cash but allows me to study during the week. Only bad thing is that my Swedish teacher decided to put a class on saturday morning, and since I work till 04.00 gives me only 5 hours sleep max. No Miss swedish teacher that does not make me a happy camper! Luckily the class is only once every 2 weeks, but I still think it's STOOPID!

Job is at a pizza/kebab restaurant catering to the party crowd after the bars/dicsos close. Half of the night I sit waiting so it's not too bad, with a little prep work at the start and 1 hour of running like a headless chicken when the bar hoppers come by and finishing it off with an hour of clean up. All in all manageable although it does screw up my day/night rhythm like mad.

School is going okayish, have to get some grades back still, to know for sure it's going okay. Tomorrow I'll have a school trip to the local famous castle Läcko Slott, for my history class. So that's should be fun, and apparently also cold. No central heating in old castles, the horror!

That's it for now, I'll try to keep you posted more.

10:37 pm - Kinderen voor kinderen
Kinderen voor kinderen exists 30 years this year as does, coincedently the walkman. Lets celebrate this with a tribute post for kinderen voor kinderen en post some of your favourite Kvk clips/songs or hold a KvK marathon on youtube ;)

One of the first songs of the first KvK was "Ik heb zo waanzinnig gedroomt." one that I can remember having on a cassete and playing on my walkman

Is it me being an old fart that I like the old songs way better than the new ones?

*Goes off singing "Op een onbewoont eiland"*

"Don't they speak their own dialect in Austria, like Ostrich?"

After Nicky and me were discussing the Fritzl case. I had to share and had to immortalize it. ^^

3:25 pm - The buracracy that is Sweden.
I always thought that Holland had a lot of red tape, but it is no where near to where Sweden is. I don't think we have had any forms that we filled in that we didn't get back at one time...only to get exactly the same form into which we have to write exactly the same information. And even after that they might still not get it correct.

Nicklas for instance changed it's address with all the gorvement instances, but somehow they screwed it up totally and his mail was sent to the new mail address of his roommate. No idea how they did that, and finally after changing the adress 3 times they found the right mail box!

So today I got a form back from the student aid, a form I sent in a couple of weeks ago. However, this doesn't seem to look at all like an answer saying yah or nay you will get your student aid. It is a form that looks exactly the same as the one I sent in only with some stuff already filled, like school and year.

So here I go filling in again. Hopefully they will get it right this time!

Shamelessly imitating [info]alientjeThe Big Read rechons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Strike out the books you have no intention of ever reading, or were forced to read at school and hated.
5) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

Some of the books I've started in but if I didn't read at least more than half of it and didn't list them as read ;)

Oooh pilot season has started and don't you just love the interwebs for leaking em.

One pilot that's a must have is the Life on Mars US one, since there is apparently already a ruckus about it. What I read is that they are re-shooting it away from LA to New York. Besides that they might recast the cast except for the lead and it seems David E. Kelly (of Ally MacBeal fame) has left the show. One wonders if there will be anything left.

US version of Life on Mars gets lost in translation

Other leaked pilots are Fringe, from J.J. Abrams (Lost) and True Blood, based and the Sookie Stackhouse novels and created by Alan Ball (American Beauty, Six Feet Under.)

Lets hope it's a good year for new shows!

current mood: excited
